just got the passenger side window out and knocked off all the rust. hate to say it, but im actually happy with what i found. no holes! just lots of flaking crust and bubbled paint. im going to have visible primer spots around the bottom of that window but the fact it looked so bad but there were no holes has me not caring, it's a trade off in my favor.

as like yesterday, ill be update editing this post. zoned out and didn't take any of what it looked like before i went crazy with the wire brush and pick. but ill get one of what it looks like before cleaning, treating and painting.

alright the pic's
this is after i hit it with pick and wire brush to knock off all the loose flaky rust

this is after it was cleaned and hit with the rust converter stuff

here is a close up of the damage

here's the first coat

here's the second coat

and here's the driver side window held up in place

ok i am sooooo not doing the back window this weekend. nothing is cooperating today. im spilling shit all over. dropping everything on the floor and to top that off the damn can of primer wont spay, the can itself is clogged. so i got pissed and punctured the can and dumped the primer into a jar and broke out my air brush and got to spraying. coat #1 is on.

i did get the the idea to use the air brushed to paint over the primer. i still have paint.... idk...

edit:
so the driver side window is in and looking CLEAN!

here's where the passenger side is. i decided im am going to mix up some paint and airbrush blend it the best i can (if my paint and clear is still good). so this window isn't going in this weekend.

and im not doing the back window this weekend. but here's what the damage looks like right now

not ideal, but butter than primer showing. and better looking that i thought it would be
airbrushed basecoat. after it flashes ill clear coat it

I think it looks great and you've got like the cleanest quarter windows I've ever seen :)

clear coated! and it actually looks pretty dang good. i am surprised. the blend is not terrible.

Dude, that looks great! Are you going to tackle the rear window in the same manner?

yeah, but im probably going to have to wait for warmer weather though. i only have medium temp reducer so the paint/clear dry's super slow and it's reached the point of getting cold enough at night that i don't want to leave the windows out.
so i think next on the list is going to be the windshield sense i shouldn't have to do any paint work other than brushing on the POR15

The weather is biting cold here right now(feels like 23 right now) making working on it outside nearly impossible. Are you going to get some temps warm enough sometime soon to allow you to knock it out or are you stuck until next year before you can do it?

idk, just going to have to play it be ear. we'll see what happens

ok, alright, ok. uhhh... so the POS assembled 1600 is now slightly less than a short block. im taking it apart sense im not going to use it cause the crank end play is whacked, and after yanking the pistons out today i found that the rods have excessive side play. so anyway.
iv had an aluminum case, new CB crank, CB super race rods, CB lightened flywheel, and a good set of forged 90.5 pistons in the garage for well over a year now. so the junker is apart and coming off the stand and mock up will begin on the new 1776 sometime in the coming weeks. heads will be ordered and hopefully this motivation will stick around for a while

all i can say is damn im glad i never put this in the car!

these are actually concaved! and the 3 worst ones are upside down. they also make a nice rattling sound when you shake them.

and i think i found my oil leak. this would explain why the top of the case is covered in oil.

ok, the .080 over beat up and out of round case is off the stand and in the trash! along with a few other worn out parts.
found my standard bearings, so next weekend ill start mock up and see about ordering heads. also thinking of buying a new cam... a 110 isn't that big but is supposed to be very street friendly, so idk...

someone just figured out his deck height. ...and isn't super stoked with the results. .070"
the Panchito 044 heads im planning on getting have a combustion chamber of 57cc's. so my CR would be 7.5:1. i mean at least there will be no question about it being 87 octane tolerant. don't think the butt dyno would notice the difference between 7.5 and 8.0. so i think im good with it. not chasing big power with this engine anyway. that'll come later

i have a set of Tim's stage one heads... maybe ill see what the CC's of those are.... ...just for S&G...

x2 8-)

somebody changed up the plan again.

so now im going 1904cc. 74 forged crank, 5.4 rods, A pistons. everything clears with room to spare. have to shim the cylinders .060 but whatever. it'll put my deck height at about .045 - .050 witch is perfect for the heads ill be running. will have about or just shy of 8.0:1cr. 8-)
